Marketplace Financial Assistance for Unemployed Consumers Consumers who have received unemployment benefits in 2021 are now eligible to receive help paying their monthly premium for 2021 plans purchased through the Marketplace. The Marketplace will count these consumers’ income as 133% FPL for the entire year, regardless of actual income. These consumers will be eligible for a $0 premium plan and maximum cost-sharing reductions. This is a great opportunity to reach North Carolinians who fall into the Coverage Gap!
Consumers are eligible if they have received unemployment benefits at any time in 2021, for any amount, and for any length of time. Consumers should act before the end of the Special Open Enrollment Period, which ends on August 15, 2021. Refer to pp. 3-5 of this fact sheet for more information.
