We are pleased to announce the addition of a Certified Nurse Midwife, Jody Schmit, CNM to Minnie Jones Health Center.
As our goal is to offer a full range of easily accessible care options to women at every stage of life, we are excited to expand our collaborative care model to include this new personalized service of nurse midwifery to our patients.
What Services Does a Certified Nurse Midwife Provide at WNCCHS?
Ms. Schmit provides a broad spectrum of primary health care services for women from adolescence to beyond menopause. These services include primary care, gynecologic and family planning services (i.e., annual pelvic exams, pap smears, STD testing and education, preconception care, care during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period, care of the normal newborn during the first 28 days of life, and treatment of partners for sexually transmitted infections).
If a patient schedules an appointment for an annual “Well Woman” exam, can they continue to see their regular primary care provider?
Absolutely. They may continue to see their regular primary care provider for routine medical problems, acute and chronic conditions. Or they may choose to select Jody Schmit to serve as their regular primary care provider.
To schedule a prenatal, primary care, or annual well-woman visit, patients can call (828) 285-0622 and request an appointment with Jody Schmit.
