Dr. Bronwyn Fadem
Family Medicine Physician
WNCCHS—Minnie Jones Health Center
Dr. Bronwyn Fadem grew up in the rural town of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, and attended public schools throughout her life, including the University of North Carolina and the UNC School of Medicine. While at UNC, she gained clinical fluency in Spanish and volunteered with a variety of free clinics, youth mentorship programs, and farmworker health initiatives. She was elected by peers and faculty to the Gold Humanism Honor Society in recognition of her volunteer work and humanistic approach to patient care.
Dr. Fadem trained at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) and Mission Hospital in Asheville for five years—first as a medical student and later as a family medicine resident. During those years, she gained invaluable firsthand knowledge of the barriers patients face across healthcare settings in Western North Carolina. It was also when she first learned about WNCCHS—and even had the honor of delivering many babies for WNCCHS patients.
Dr. Fadem sees patients of all ages and has experience managing a wide range of health concerns, including mental health; pregnancy and postpartum care; chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, heart failure, diabetes, and thyroid disorders; acute illnesses like colds, infections, and sports injuries; transgender health; dermatologic issues; physical wellness; and sexual and reproductive health, including birth control.
Her past patients and their families have described her as thorough, nonjudgmental, attentive, patient, and caring. She practices whole-person medicine and believes that building trust takes time. She strives to be both knowledgeable and approachable, asking in-depth questions to tailor care to each individual. She also encourages patients and their families to advocate for themselves.
Outside of work, Dr. Fadem enjoys spending time with her loved ones and attending community events. She loves cooking, gardening, partner acrobatics, crafting, and traveling.
