Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Lindsey Thompson, PMHNP-BC, is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who joined WNCCHS in January 2025. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina in December 2022. Lindsey resides in Greenville, South Carolina, where she has lived for more than 10 years. She previously earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Tri-County Technical College in May 2015 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Anderson University in August 2018, graduating summa cum laude.
Lindsey began her nursing career with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health in August 2015, where she provided care to both inpatient and outpatient individuals. Throughout her career, she has gained extensive experience in psychiatry and direct patient care across a wide range of settings, including state hospitals, private practices, schools, pediatric hospital environments, the homeless community, and community-based care as a prescriber for the county’s Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team.
Lindsey is passionate about supporting individuals who choose to improve their lives through mental health treatment. Throughout her education and career, she has prioritized learning strategies to improve patient outcomes and remains committed to ongoing professional growth.
Initially interested in becoming an equine veterinarian, Lindsey adjusted her career path after encountering individuals with undertreated mental health needs and feeling compelled to provide care. She realized she could combine her interest in medicine with her passion for helping others by working with individuals facing mental health challenges. She believes the core of nursing lies in supporting patients as they heal, grow, and succeed.
As a nurse practitioner, Lindsey strives to create an environment rooted in trust, compassion, and collaboration. She emphasizes patient education, encourages independence, and works to connect patients with available resources to support their goals. Lindsey values teamwork and learning from colleagues, recognizing the importance of shared knowledge and experience. She is dedicated to providing excellent care, respecting boundaries, and empowering patients as they work toward improved mental health and well-being.
