Cheri Salazar, DNP, is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with more than two decades of experience caring for children and families, particularly in underserved communities. She is dual-certified in primary and acute care pediatrics and holds an additional specialty certification in pediatric hospice and palliative care. Dr. Salazar earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Michigan State University and her master’s degree as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Columbia University.
Throughout her career, Dr. Salazar has specialized in primary care, pediatric hematology and oncology, neurosurgery, and pediatric hospice and palliative care. She is especially passionate about improving quality of life for children with serious illnesses and supporting families through chronic care management. Dr. Salazar played a key role in developing a pediatric hospice and palliative care program at University of Michigan Sparrow Health System.
Her clinical interests include complex care coordination, caring for children with medical complexity, and serving underrepresented populations. She is committed to providing compassionate, family-centered care that supports the unique needs of every child and family.
Outside of work, Cheri enjoys spending time with her husband, Joe, and their three adult children. She loves being outdoors, attending live music events, practicing yoga, and reading.
